ビトラ名 ペティロブスト
13歳の時にスペインからキューバに移住したホセ・ヘネル氏が叔父の農園で働きながら、20年後に自身の葉巻工場を開設して独自の葉巻ブランド「ラ・エセプシオン」を作りました。その売り上げでキューバ最高峰の産地の一つであるサンフアン・イ・マルティネスに農場を購入して誕生したブランドです。
「HOYO」とはスペイン語で「穴」を意味しており、最高のタバコ葉産地として有名なこの地の形状になぞらえて名付けられました。
ペティロブストは、2004年にレギュラー商品として販売開始されたビトラです。それ以降キューバシガーのみならず世界的に短くとも太さがあって吸いごたえのあるビトラの人気が高まっており、流行が変化していくきっかけとなった1本とも言えるかと思います。

Vitola Name: Petit Robusto
José Gener, who emigrated from Spain to Cuba at the age of 13, worked on his uncle’s farm. Twenty years later, he opened his own cigar factory and created his own cigar brand, “La Esepsión.” With the proceeds from that, he purchased a farm in San Juan y Martínez, one of Cuba’s top tobacco-producing regions, and this brand was born.
“HOYO” means “hole” in Spanish, and the name was chosen to resemble the shape of this region, famous for producing the finest tobacco leaves.
The Petit Robusto was launched as a regular product in 2004. Since then, not only Cuban cigars but also vitolas with a thick, satisfying smoking experience have become increasingly popular worldwide, and it can be said that this cigar was a catalyst for this shift in trends.
