特徴的な丸いボトルとキャップにあしらってあるケンタッキーダービーのサラブレッドのフィギュアが印象的なプレミアムバーボン。ブラントンはケンタッキー州フランクフォート市の、市政200周年を記念して1984年に作られたブランドです。
造っているのはアメリカ最古の蒸留所であるバッファロートレース蒸留所。かつてはエンシェントエイジ蒸留所やブラントン蒸留所、ジョージ・T・スタッグ蒸留所等の名前で操業されていたこともあり、禁酒法時代も医薬目的として酒造を許可されていた数少ない蒸留所でもあります。
ブラントンという名は、かつて『ディーン・オブ・ケンタッキー』と呼ばれ慕われていたアルバート・ブラントン大佐に因んだもので、彼に敬意を払いその名がつけられました。
ブラントンの最大の特徴は、ラインナップの全てのボトルがシングルバレルであるということです。
バッファロートレース蒸留所で4年熟成された原酒の内、ブラントンとして相応しいものだけが選び抜かれ、ブラントンの熟成に最も適した熟成庫に運ばれてさらに4年ほど熟成。味の均一化のために違う樽同士で混ぜ合わせる事をせずに、アルコール度数を合わせるための最低限の水を加えてボトリングされます。
そのため、一つの樽から約250本前後しか作れず、ボトルによって些細な違いが生まれることも魅力の一つです。
ゴールドは、ブラントンの原酒の中でも特に優れた樽のみを選び抜き、アルコール度数51.5%と高めに合わせてボトリングされた珠玉の一本。重厚で華やかな味わいはバーボンがお好きな方ももちろん、普段あまり飲まれない方でも満足いただけると思います。

This premium bourbon features a distinctive round bottle and a figure of a thoroughbred horse from the Kentucky Derby on the cap. Blanton’s is a brand created in 1984 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city of Frankfort, Kentucky.
It is produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery, the oldest distillery in the United States. It once operated under the names Ancient Age Distillery, Blanton Distillery, and George T. Stagg Distillery, and was one of the few distilleries that was permitted to produce alcohol for medicinal purposes during the Prohibition era.
The name Blanton’s comes from Colonel Albert Blanton, who was once known as the “Dean of Kentucky” and was given to him as a tribute.
The biggest feature of Blanton’s is that all of the bottles in the lineup are single barrels.
Of the raw liquor aged for four years at Buffalo Trace Distillery, only those suitable for Blanton’s are selected and transported to the aging warehouse most suitable for Blanton’s aging for another four years. To ensure a uniform taste, different barrels are not mixed together, and the whiskey is bottled with the minimum amount of water added to balance the alcohol content.
As a result, only around 250 bottles can be produced from one barrel, and the subtle differences that arise from bottle to bottle are part of the whiskey’s appeal.
