バッファロー・トレース蒸留所から、年間300本程度の限定で販売されているシングルバレルバーボンの王様、ジョージTスタッグ。
蒸留所の各部門の最高責任者数名がテイスティングした16種類の最高品質のサンプル原酒の中から、一樽のみを選出して毎年一度だけリリースされていますが、少量生産な上、人気が高く一般市場ではほとんど見かけることがなく口にするのが大変難しい超入手困難品。
2002年に販売開始された本家から遅れること11年、2013年よりジョージ・T・スタッグの弟分としてリリース開始されたのがこちらのスタッグJR。
セカンドラインとはいえ、年に二度のみ400本程のリリースとこちらも本家ほどではないまでも超限定品であり入手は困難です。
ジョージ・T・スタッグと同じく、加水調整なしのバレルプルーフでもちろんノンフィルタリング。リリース毎に樽が違うことから、ボトリングの度にアルコール度数も違えば異なる味わいをたのしむことができます。
ジョージ・T・スタッグの熟成年数15～19年に対して、スタッグJrは平均で8～9年と約半分の熟成期間となっております。現在当店にあるボトルの129.5プルーフは、2017年春にリリースされたシリーズ第8弾のバッチ8。そのアルコール度数からは信じられない程のまろやかさと奥深い甘み。現在最新のリリースはバッチ18を超えていますが、バッチ18より名前のJrが消され、スタッグという名に名称変更されています。その計り知れないポテンシャルはこの1本でも十二分に感じていただけることでしょう。ぜひご堪能ください。
From the Buffalo Trace Distillery, George T Stagg is the king of single barrel bourbon, sold in a limited edition of about 300 bottles per year.
Only one barrel is selected and released only once a year from among the 16 types of top quality sample whiskeys tasted by several chief executives of each department of the distillery, but it is a small production and is very popular. A super hard-to-find item that is rarely seen in the general market and very difficult to drink.
This Stagg JR was released in 2013 as the younger brother of George T. Stagg, 11 years after the original which was launched in 2002.
Although it is a second line, it is difficult to obtain because it is a super limited item that is released only twice a year and about 400 pieces are not as much as the original.
Like George T. Stagg, it is barrel proof without water adjustment and of course non-filtering. Since the barrels are different for each release, you can enjoy a different taste if the alcohol content is different for each bottling.
George T. Stagg aged 15 to 19 years, Stagg JR averages 8 to 9 years, about half the aging period. The 129.5 proof bottle currently in our store is the 8th batch of the series released in the spring of 2017. Unbelievable mellowness and deep sweetness from its alcohol content. Currently the latest release exceeds Batch 18, but from Batch 18 the JR in the name has been removed and renamed to Stagg. You will be able to fully feel the immeasurable potential of this one.
