ハイランドとスペイサイドのちょうど境目にあたる、アバディーンシャーのハントリー郊外にあるデヴァロン川の南に位置するグレンドロナック蒸留所は、ティーチャーズのキーモルトとしても有名な蒸留所です。
ジェームス・アラダイス氏が1826年に蒸留所を建てたのが始まりで、ウイスキー蒸留所としては珍しいことに、創業当初から非常に人気の高いウイスキーを作っていました。
アラダイス氏のウイスキーは地元の貴族たちに大好評で、やがてアラダイス氏はロンドンの社交界をデビューするようになりました。その後1837年にグレンドロナック蒸留所が火災に見舞われてしまいます。
再建はされましたが、オーナー権は他の人の手に渡ることになり、ここから今に至るまで何度も所有者が入れ替わっています。
グレンドロナックの特徴といえば、やはり何といっても熟成樽のほとんどがシェリー樽であることです。
『グレンドロナック 15年 リバイバル』は、2015年に一度終売となりましたが、復活を願う声も多く2018年頃にリリース再開されました。大変多くのファンを持つブランドの為、人気が高く価格もどんどん高騰しており、現在も安定的に入荷することは難しい状況です。

Glendronach Distillery, located south of the Devaron River in the suburbs of Huntley, Aberdeenshire, just on the border between Highland and Speyside, is a famous distillery as a teacher’s key malt.
It started when James Allardyce built the distillery in 1826, and unusually for a whisky distillery, it has been making very popular whisky since its inception.
Mr. Allardyce’s whisky was well received by the local aristocracy, and Mr. Allardyce soon made his debut in London society. In 1837, the Glendronach distillery was destroyed by fire.
It was rebuilt, but the ownership passed to someone else, and it has changed owners many times since then.
The characteristic of Glendronach is that most of the aging barrels are sherry barrels.
“Glendronach aged 15 years Revival” was discontinued once in 2015, but it was resumed around 2018 due to many requests for a revival. Because it is a brand that has so many fans, it is very popular and the price is soaring, and it is difficult to get stable stock even now.
Aged in Spanish Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximénez casks, it has a gorgeous, sweet taste that goes well with cigars. Please try once.
