ベンロマック蒸留所はスペイサイド最小規模の蒸留所で、1898年に創業されました。
しかし当時はブレンデッドウイスキーが世界の主流だったこともあり、ベンロマックのような小規模の蒸留所は作り出せる原酒の量が少なく、経営難を強いられていました。
何度も閉鎖と再開を繰り返し、幾度となく所有者も変わり、時が経って1992年インディペンデントボトラーであるゴードン&マクファイル社の手に渡りました。
ゴードン&マクファイル社はベンロマック蒸留所を改築し1998年に稼働を再開、創業からちょうど100周年の年でした。
この頃には世界ではシングルモルトブームが訪れており、ベンロマック蒸留所の規模でも、高品質であればそれだけで売れるようになりました。
こうして100年もの間辛酸を舐めてきたベンロマック蒸留所はようやく世界に認められ、今ではワールドウイスキーアワードを始め、様々な酒類コンペティションで数多くの賞を獲る程までなりました。
『ベンロマック サシカイアウッドフィニッシュ』は、そんなベンロマックから年に一回限定で販売されているウッドフィニッシュシリーズの一つです。
こちらは2007年蒸留の2016年ボトリング、世界で3500本限定発売されていました。
ファーストフィルのバーボン樽で熟成した後、イタリアワインの至宝と言われているサシカイアの樽で24ヶ月間追熟しています。非常に人気があり、すぐに完売するため見かける機会も少ないボトルです。ぜひ一度お試しください。

However, at that time, blended whisky was the mainstream in the world, and small-scale distilleries like Benromach were faced with financial difficulties due to the small amount of unblended whisky they could produce.
It closed and reopened many times, changed owners many times, and eventually passed into the hands of Gordon & Macphail, an independent bottler in 1992.
Gordon & Macphail renovated the Benromach distillery and reopened in 1998, just the 100th anniversary of its founding.
Around this time, there was a single malt boom in the world.
In this way, the Benromach Distillery, which has been licking hardships for 100 years, has finally been recognized by the world, and now it has won numerous awards in various liquor competitions, including the World Whisky Awards.
“Benromach Sassicaia Wood Finish” is one of the wood finish series sold by Benromach only once a year.
This was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2016, with a limited edition of 3,500 bottles worldwide.
After aging in first-fill bourbon barrels, it is aged for 24 months in Sassicaia barrels, said to be the jewel of Italian wine. It is a very popular bottle that is rarely seen because it sells out quickly. Please try once.
