ジノ・ダビドフによって創業された『Davidoff』は、葉巻に限らず香水やネクタイ、コニャック等幅広く手掛けるブランドです。
ジノ・ダビドフは帝政ロシア時代のキエフで産まれ、その後スイスに移住し、20歳のときにはたばこの栽培や貿易を学ぶために南米やキューバに渡っています。
1967年からキューバで葉巻の生産を開始しましたが、1990年頃に撤退し、現在ではドミニカ共和国で最高級のシガーを生産しており、世界中の愛煙家達を虜にしています。
かつてキューバで生産されていた頃に「シャトーシリーズ」と呼ばれるものがありました。
フランスの名醸ワインの名を冠したダビドフ初の自社製シリーズでしたが、生産国をドミニカ共和国へ移すと共に終売し、後継として登場したのがこのグランクリュシリーズです。
「グランクリュ No.2」はちょうど当時の「シャトー ラトゥール」と同じ寸法のコロナサイズ。葉のブレンドこそ違いますが、上品さは損なっていません。

Founded by Zino Davidoff, Davidoff is a brand that handles a wide range of products, including not only cigars but also perfumes, ties, and cognacs.
Zino Davidoff was born in Kiev during the Imperial Russian era, then moved to Switzerland, and at the age of 20, he went to South America and Cuba to study tobacco cultivation and trade.
The company began producing cigars in Cuba in 1967, but withdrew from the market around 1990. Now, the company produces the highest quality cigars in the Dominican Republic, captivating smokers all over the world.
When the company was producing cigars in Cuba, there was a series called the “Chateau Series.”
This was Davidoff’s first in-house series, named after a famous French wine, but it was discontinued when production moved to the Dominican Republic, and the Grand Cru series was introduced as its successor.
The “Grand Cru No. 2” is the same Corona size as the “Chateau Latour” at the time. Although the blend of leaves is different, the elegance is not lost.
